The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Oakland University invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of discrete mathematics.

Responsibilities of the position include teaching, research, and contribution to the department's collaborative efforts with industry. For appointment, candidates must have a Ph.D. in discrete mathematics or a closely related field (or its requirements completed) by August 15, 2002.

The primary selection criteria will be an applicant's potential for quality research and effective teaching in support of the Department's instructional responsibilities. Amongst applicants who are found highly qualified with respect to these criteria, preference will be given to those with strong research pontential in applied discrete mathematics and evidence of experiences and/or potential in developing research links, funding, and student internships with industry or government.
