2005 SUMMER MATHEMATICS INSTITUTE COURSES

(1) APM 405 Introduction to Graph Theory, Dr. Eddie Cheng

This is a sophomore level course. Topics include paths and cycles, colouring, independent sets, spanning trees, shortest paths, planar graphs, and applications such as the game Instant Insanity, scheduling problems and facilities design.



(2) STA 226 Applied Statistics, Dr. Subbaiah Perla

Introduction to statistics as applied to the physical, biological and social sciences and to engineering. Applications of special distributions and nonparametric techniques. Regression analysis and analysis of variance. Satisfies the university general education requirement in mathematics, logic and computer science.
